How do you judge the results after floor polishing? What measurement instrument will you choose and how do you read the data?

In Europe and China, most people use the device only can test gloss meter without DOI - Clarity. But we learn that the DOI is even more important sometimes.

Why should we care about the DOI? What does the DOI parameter mean in the floor polishing?

If want to understand how your polishing works perform, obviously, it's not enough to rely on the single data, the most universal device can't display the haze problem. For sure, however, if the floor has heavy haze, you can see the blurry and dispersive gloss. What we want is clear mirror-finish look not only the high gloss end.

But even though we can't find a way 100% to measure the floor surface state, we should approach this way, continually. (see pictures below,60°= Gloss meter, DOI = Clarity)

As for marble polishing, the conventional way: floor pad/steel wool pad + polisher cream/powder is not the best way now. Honestly, you can try it occasionally but don't rely on it. Why?

First of all, let's see the working principle. Usually, people will add oxalic acid and fluorosilicic acid to react with the calcium on the surface of the marble to generate calcium oxalate and calcium fluorosilicate components to form a crystalline layer.

If use polishing guard too frequently as long-term maintenance, excessive calcification and repeated calcification on the surface of the stone will cause crack and orange peel problems.
